---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are my brief teacher take-aways
from this Webinar:
- #10: “You Gotta Talk the Talk”: Watch
your language. Misuse of terms (like using confounding or biased
as a synonym for “bad”), Not knowing the difference between Blocking
and Stratified, Saying Normal instead of Approximately Normal,
Misuse of symbols (advice: use the words if you cant remember
the symbols).
- #9: Prepare Your Workspace: Print the Formula Sheet & Table if you use those and put notes
all over them if you like!, Make sure that your calculator is charged,
batteries new, Practice and
study in this workspace to get used to it/make sure it’s for a testing
environment.
- #8: Manage Your Time: Two
FRQs: Question #1: 25 minutes to
complete, 5 minutes to upload (55% weight), Question #2: 15 minutes
to complete, 5 minutes to upload (45% weight) , Don’t spend
too much time on each part, 3-5 minutes per part, Don’t be stressed
if you have blank part(s) (but if you have time don’t leave blanks): you could still get a 5 on this exam
with part(s) not answered, just do your best on what you do, YOU
MUST SUBMIT ON TIME FOR CREDIT.
·
#7: Practice With
You Technology: Get familiar with the testing platform (there are 3 possible ways to
do the test: see the email/Schoology/blogger
post from CB EXTREMELY
IMPORTANT 2020 AP EXAM TEST TAKERS GUIDE UPDATE. A MUST READ! that I sent 4/29). Make sure that you’ve
practiced the way your going to do this.
We should be given TESTING DEMO directions for practicing from CB
starting today 5/4 sometime😊.
·
#6: Know Your
Inference: Practicing the identifying the appropriate
inference method
to use ( for example: confidence interval or significance test for 1 or 2 proportion(s)
or means(s)), see the Larry Green’s Applet email/blogger posting that I
sent on 4/30. Know the 4 Step process (SPDC).
·
#5: Naked (bald)
answers = No Credit: Show your work (your math), you’ll be lucky to get a P=Partial
for a correct answer with no work/explanation.
·
#4: Focused on Statistical Thinking: Plan on the exam being more than “fill-in-the blank”,
study why/how things work (like why are the conditions important
for each of the RNI in the Plan step), ALWAYS USE CONTEXT,
Don’t expect a lot of super heavy calculations on this year’s 2020 test
since they say you can get answers from the tables quickly without a calculator
(But; of course, you can use you calculator to get these answers like we did
in class: you do NOT have to use the tables 😊).
·
#3: Don’t Write Too
Much: “less is more”, answer the question(s) asked only IN
CONTEXT then “shut up” (don’t add extra explanations), they could pick
the weakest response if you give several answers (SO JUST PUT ONE RESPONSE
TO EACH QUESTION(s) ASKED), Don’t argue with the reader (just answer
the question(s)).
·
#2: RTQ
and ATQ: Read The Question and Answer The Question, Describes means use SOCS, Compare means use “less than/greater
than/equal to” terms, describe similarities and differences (if
asked), explain and justify (if asked), choose between options,
do “more than one thing”.
·
#1: Be Prepared
and Confident: TPS Cumulative Practice Tests 1,2,3 (this is their if you have your
book, of course they wrote the book so that makes sense 😊) , CB YouTube Live Lessons (we’re watching these daily: they are all recorded
and still available 😊), CB AP Stats Practice Exam
Questions, Khan Academy AP Stats Practice, pick you’re weakest
spots and practice those the most.
As always, please email me any question, concerns,
comments, thoughts, as often as you like!
Take Care!!!!!!
