Hi all!

That was a great lesson from Luke Wilcox!  Here are my take-aways and teacher comments:

THIS ONE IS ANOTHER MUST WATCH FOR UNDERSTANDING OF FRQ SCORING AND GRADING!! REMINDER: THERE ARE ONLY 2 FRQs TYPES ON THE 2020 EXAM!!

Reminders

  • All resources available at Statsmedic.com/youtube
  • If you need a device take the Exam go to cb.org/tech

Last Night’s homework MC “track meet” example:

  • This is a nice review of difference of means and standard deviation (ALWAYS ADD) with formula  application

---THESE ARE FRQs FOR Unit 4: Prob, RVs and Prob Distribution, Unit 4: Prob, RVs and Prob Distribution, Unit 5: Sampling Distributions---

2011 FRQ #2 “Political Party Registration”:

  • a): nice conditional probability question from a two-way table
  • b): nice test for independence question from a two-way table
  • c): nice demonstration of a segmented bar graph for gender given independence
  • EXTREMELY IMPORTANT EXPLANATION ON GRADING/SCORING RUBRIC USING Essentially correct, Partially Correct, Incorrect categories

2008 FRQ #3 “Arcade game”:

  • a)Nice expected value calculations from two probability distributions
  • b)Nice reminder that AND means MULTIPLY for probability for the three possibilities of “-1”
  • c):  Nice reminder that OR means ADD for probability for the solutions in part b)
  • d): nice use of part c) and sum of probability =1 idea to fill in the probability distribution table and probability calculation with the completed table
  • EXTREMELY IMPORTANT EXPLANATION ON GRADING/SCORING RUBRIC USING Essentially correct, Partially Correct, Incorrect categories

2014 FRQ #3 “Sick days”:

  • a)nice review of z-score and the normalcdf function
  • b)nice explanation of an approximate sampling distribution for mean (xbar), review of z-score and the normalcdf function, and reminder to answer the question completely (compare to part a))
  • c):  Again: AND means MULTIPLY for probability
  • EXTREMELY IMPORTANT EXPLANATION ON GRADING/SCORING RUBRIC USING Essentially correct, Partially Correct, Incorrect categories
