Official 2020 AP Stats Exam College Board Lesson #18 Common Student Errors: Knowing Your Formula Sheet 4_29_2020
Hi all!
That was a great lesson from Brendan Murphy! Here are my take-aways and teacher comments:
Reminders
4 weeks of lessons and preparation for the exam is being taught/reviewed (recorded) M-F: 2-2:45 PM in these YouTube Lessons 😊 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPUFFmO1VbE&list=PLoGgviqq4845u-QDW3bikMhC4uQsuYDpy&index=26
- Lessons: April 6-10: Units 6-7 taught first because many schools either didn’t get to these entirely or at all (we did get through most of this); April 13-April 24: Units 1-5
- NEW: EXAM POINTERS FOR DOING WELL ON THE 2020 EXAM: 4/27—5/8. 5/4, 5/5 AN ACTUAL 2020 PRACTICE TEST!!😊

- All resources available at Statsmedic.com/youtube
- If you need a device take the Exam go to cb.org/tech
Last Night’s homework “trees in a forested area” example:
- This is a nice reminder of how to interpret a p-value for a significance test for a proportion
---THESE ARE EXPLANATIONS FOR FORMULA SHEET FOR AP STATISTICS, COMMON STUDENT ERRORS---
FORMULA SHEET FOR AP STATISTICS:
- nice advice to print your formula sheet and start putting notes right on that sheet now since it’s an open book/open notes exam 😊
- I: Descriptive Statistics: Statsà Calc 1:1-Vars Stats or 2: 2-Vars Stats or 8: LinReg(a + bx) instead of some of the “complicated” formula in this section
- II: Probability and Distribution: You can add (write it in) the formula P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B) – P( A and B) to this section; put any notes, formula, calculator functions in the binomial and geometric distribution section
- III: Sampling Distribution and Inferential Statistics: put any notes or more specific formula for z-scores, t-scores, confidence intervals, etc. here; delete Chi Square (CB Unit 8 topic) for this year’s 2020 exam; cross out Inference for Regression (CB Unit 9 topic) for this year’s 2020 exam
COMMON STUDENT ERRORS:
- nice run through of the 6 common errors for Exploring Data Analysis (EDA)
- nice run through of the 8 common errors for Experimental Design
- nice run through of the 4 common errors for Probability
- nice run through of the 7 common errors for Statistical Inference
Try the homework MC 2002 #24 if you can for tomorrow’s lesson 😊
