LAST COLLEGE BOARD LESSON (EXAM TIPS
& BEST WISHES):
TOP 10 AP EXAM TIPS
- 1: CLEARLY COMMUNICATE YOUR UNDERSTANDING using formulas, calculations or words; no work is at most partial credit; write what is asked for then be done.
- 2: ALWAYS INCLUDE CONTEXT IN YOUR ANSWERS describing a distribution; describing a relationship between two variables; say what “it” is (be specific).
- 3: BE SPECIFIC IN YOUR LANGUAGE AND VOACBULARY significant, accurate, skewed, bias; stratified (sample from a population) versus blocking (done in an experiment); precise versus accurate; Population Distribution (entire population) versus Sampling Distribution (all possible samples) versus Sample Distribution (one possible sample).
- 4: USE APPROPRIATE NOTATION know the difference between a statistic (sample) and a parameter (population); define your parameters; z-score is generally for proportions versus t-scores is for means since sigma is unknown we use s.
- 5: PREPARE YOUR WORKSPACE print out the 2020 formula sheet; have your calculator ready; study in the workspace where you’ll actually take the exam.
- 6: MANAGE YOUR TIME login in 30 minutes early; FRQ#1 = 25 minutes/5 minutes to upload, FRQ#2 = 15 minutes/5 minutes to upload; don’t spend too much time on any one part; watch the clock (red means 5 minutes to upload).
- 7: DON’T LEAVE ANYTHING BLANK don’t stress on specific parts you do not know (you can still get a 5); partial answers may get partial credit; no penalty for guessing; make a reasonable answer for a previous part if you need to answer the next part; attempt all parts, you do not have to go in order.
- 8: KNOW YOUR FORMULA SHEET add notes (formula) to the this 2020 Formula Sheet ahead of time if you want to; know where everything is located on this sheet to find things quickly if needed; if you do not use the tables, know your calculator functions for z-distributions and t-distributions.
- 9: KNOW YOUR INFERENCE means or proportions?; one or two samples?; confidence interval or significance test?; paired t-test or two sample t-test?; z-distribution or t-distribution?.
- 10: BE CONFIDENT! BE READY! Take a practice test to increase your confidence; Remember all this YOUTUBE lesson work (you’ve done a lot!); look at the next five steps slide if you want to; this is the “championship game” so have fun!.
2020 AP EXAM PREDICTIONS

- 2: BOTH FRQ#1 & FRQ #2 will cover all CB Units 1-7 (TPS Chapters 1-10)
- 3: One FRQ will have means, One FRQ will have proportions
- 4: One FRQ will have confidence interval concepts, One FRQ will have significance test concepts
- 5: One FRQ will have a one sample scenario, One FRQ will have a two sample scenario
--BM AND LW give thoughts on topics that they’d like to see on the exam and the lessons that they’ve learned and will remember.
